St Vallier Rae Marie Taylor and Pierre Cote

Spoken Word poet Rae Marie Taylor’s semi-nomadic life bridges her Southwest homeland and the Quebec north country. She performs with fellow poets and writers in both regions. Rae Marie has produced the CD Black Grace and seven of her own solo shows with beloved musicians. Among them, Montreal musicians David Gossage, the Michel Côté Trio, Pierre Tanguay and Diane Labrosse.

Critic Claude Larouche states, Rae’s words create a powerful chemistry.

Scientist and Author, Geoffrey Edwards tells us that, her voice provides a haven for our encounter with sound.

Rae’s newest bilingual poetry suite, Steady. Against the Absurd. Kinship at the Core/Sans relâche. Contre l’absurde. Corps et âmes, is published with Colorado’s Wild Rising Press. After being awarded finalist for the Mexico/U.S.A. Poetry Mesa Chapbook Contest, it has been honoured as Winner of the 2025 American Book Fest International Book Award for Narrative Poetry.

Here’s some of what readers are saying:

Le poème reflète l’obscurité autour, mais c’est la lumière qui nous reste. L.P. Québec

Rae Marie, FRONT Cover Steady

An exquisite work of art, written in English and French, this poem expresses both a deep sorrow for “ these times” and an equal measure of love for the land, waters and all life…Her poetic musings are illustrated with her own subtle and delicate art. A book which deserves to be widely read.

Moi qui lis peu en anglais, j’ai le sentiment de tout comprendre, de te suivre pas à pas dans l’afflux des affects évoqués avec tant de justesse et de délicatesse. Une belle découverte et un vrai plaisir littéraire. Bravo.  _____C. L. Le Gatineau
